Our nose is a vital sense organ that allows us to breathe and smell things…But that is not all!
According to ancient science of Ayurveda, the nose is the entryway to the brain and mind. The nasal cavity has unique nerve endings and tissues that allow rapid absorption of therapeutic substances bypassing the GI absorption limitations of ingested medicine and by crossing the blood-brain barrier.
Nasya procedure is administering medicated oil, ghee, decoctions thru nasal passages to help with several imbalances above the clavicle. This ancient practice offers an effective method to balance the mind, cleanse the head and neck region, and restore harmony to our most vital life force.
It is one of the four main Panchakarma procedures but it can be applied as a standalone therapy too.

Embracing Nasya is like opening the windows of a heavy room to let in the morning sun. Its benefits ripple through your entire being:

How to Practice
Adding Nasya to your life is a simple, meditative process. While it can be done at various times, the morning is a beautiful moment to set a clear tone for your day.
- Preparation: Warm your chosen Nasya oil gently by placing the bottle in a bowl of warm water—think of it as preparing a warm bath for your senses.
- The Position: Find a comfortable spot to sit or lie down. Tilt your head back slightly (30-45 degrees), looking toward the sky so the liquid can enter the nostrils.
- The Application: Apply 2-3 drops into the left nostril and take a deep, gentle sniff while massaging the area. Repeat on the right and hold the position.
- Integration: Continue to massage your nose and face for a minute, allowing the oil to be fully embraced by your body.
- Completion: Return your head to center. If any oil reaches your throat, you may gargle with warm water and spit it out.
Give yourself 30 minutes of quiet afterward—avoid exercise, eating, drinking or bathing—to let the healing settle in.
